Hello, I’m Aimee!
(Page under construction. Updated 12/05/2021)
This site started as a food blog, but God had other plans.
I have enjoyed baking ever since I was a little girl. While growing up, my Mom and I enjoyed watching Food Network together. She was not very domestic but enabled my love for baking by buying boxed cake mixes. I could not settle for processed goods and add my twist to them. As I got older, I started strictly baking everything from scratch (or, as my family likes to call it, making life difficult). I could not wait for the day I could be like the Food Network stars and create things with my very own Kitchen Aid mixer!
A few years ago, I stumbled on a quote by Julia Child: “Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.” Reading that forced me to analyze my life as I did not have a ‘passion’ or anything I could call mine. This curiosity quickly became a quest to find out what I was passionate about.
“What is my purpose?”
As a caregiver, my life did not appear to be moving forward like my peers who were on the “Go to school. Get a job. Get married. Have kids. Live the American Dream.” train. My life wasn’t going according to plan.
I was behind.
Or was I?
Looking for purpose in life can lead to massive anxiety and depression because you are searching for a valid reason to be on this earth. That thirst for ‘something’ led me to follow Jesus and learn just what I was doing here: Serve Him in all things. The answer was straightforward and satisfied me. Cast off the shackles from this world and be free in Christ.
“JESUS SAITH UNTO HIM, I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE: NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER, BUT BY ME.”
– JOHN 14:6
“FOR I THROUGH THE LAW AM DEAD TO THE LAW, THAT I MIGHT LIVE UNTO GOD. I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: AND THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE IN THE FLESH I LIVE BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, WHO LOVED ME, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME. I DO NOT FRUSTRATE THE GRACE OF GOD: FOR IF RIGHTEOUSNESS COME BY THE LAW, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN.” – GALATIANS 2:19-21
“THEREFORE IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATURE: OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.” – 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Along the way, God taught me life lessons through baking. One of those lessons is seeing the good and appreciating what we already have. It is seeing an opportunity and taking it. Is it always going to turn out perfect? No. However, God restores broken things. That is what He loves to do…create beauty from the ashes.
Take these rotten bananas, for instance:
As the years went on, He changed my heart and put other ideas and hobbies in my mind. I learned to enjoy renovating thrift store finds or garbage treasures.
I am simply a redeemed sinner who has been chosen and called by the Creator of the Universe and seen more of God’s in the last few years than I’ll ever deserve. I’ve learned a thing or two about second chances and watching Him make beauty from the ashes.
